Frequently Asked Questions

What is LoadMaxx Plus®?
LoadMaxx Plus® is an on-board scale designed for most types of heavy duty trailers.  LoadMaxx Plus® can be used as a stand-alone trailer scale or when connected to a tractor with a LoadMaxx® on-board scale, provides a complete vehicle solution showing tractor steer, drive and trailer weights, GVW and Net Payload on a single display in the tractor dash.  LoadMaxx Plus® is designed for drop and hook fleets and automatically connects to tractors with LoadMaxx® with no driver intervention

How does LoadMaxx Plus® work?
LoadMaxx Plus® uses highly engineered sensors to measure air pressure (for air ride suspensions) or micro-flexing of axles (for mechanical suspensions).  By calibrating the system with an empty weight entered at the time the trailer is empty and loaded weight entered at the time the trailer is loaded, the LoadMaxx Plus® algorithm calculates and displays the current weights of the suspension group(s).

The scale must be calibrated before initial use.  After calibration, easily view trailer  suspension weight on the bright, backlit IP67 rated display. The weight data will update in real time.

To view Steer, Drive, GVW and Net Payload on the tractor in-cab display, on the LoadMaxx® app on a smart device, or in integration telematics software, LoadMaxx® must be installed on the tractor for a complete tractor/trailer scale solution.

How accurate is LoadMaxx Plus®?
LoadMaxx Plus® boasts industry-leading accuracy. For air-ride suspensions, it is 99% accurate (+/- 300 lbs.), while for mechanical suspensions, it offers 97% accuracy (+/- 900 lbs.).

LoadMaxx Plus® will display weights in 20 lbs. or kgs. increments.

What suspension types does LoadMaxx Plus® work with?
LoadMaxx Plus® works with all air suspensions and most mechanical suspensions.

How often do I need to recalibrate LoadMaxx Plus®?
Generally, once you've calibrated LoadMaxx® with accurate empty and loaded weights, there's no need for recalibration. The system will continue to provide accurate weight readings. If the suspension undergoes significant damage, wear & tear, or changes such as replacing a leveling valve or air bag, a new recalibration is recommended.

PEOPLE SAY THE NICEST THINGS

Mike VanderPloeg
Operations Supervisor

With EVs, the cars are getting heavier. With every electrification point of a vehicle, it’s 200 to 300 more pounds vs. a gas version. A hybrid is 200 to 300 pounds more than the gas car and a full EV is another 200 to 300 pounds. That makes these scales all the more critical.

We use Air-Weigh scales to ensure that we pick up a full load every time. In fact, the first big haul after we installed them paid for the scales! I also like the peace of mind of knowing we won’t get an overweight ticket.
