QuickLoad now standard on Sidump’r Trailers

Eugene, Ore., March 4, 2012: Air-Weigh is pleased to announce that Sidump’r Trailer, the Plainview, Nebr., manufacturer of premium side-dump trailers for construction bulk hauling is the first trailer manufacturer to make Air-Weigh’s innovative new QuickLoad Trailer Scale a standard feature on its products. Sidump’r has been offering Air-Weigh scales for nearly a decade and now, underscoring its position as manufacturer of a top-quality product, will make the QuickLoad Trailer Scale available to every customer of its premium products.
“Making the QuickLoad Trailer Scale standard,” says Sidump’r General Manager Jennifer Koepke, “is a major customer benefit, providing protection from overweight citations, improving productivity and, at the end of the day, extending trailer life by protecting from overloading. Our users are now more diverse in what they haul. While maybe they once only hauled rock, now they could be hauling dirt, sand and distillers. They don’t always know the weight and could get a ticket, especially if the material gets wet.”
With the QuickLoad Trailer Scale as standard equipment, users can load to the maximum every time with no need to check-weigh or rework the load. But protecting the trailer is also a big factor for both Sidump’r and its customers.
“Because the scale prevents overloading in those environments where there is no scale at the loading point,” says Koepke, “we see less abuse and our customers get the maximum life from their Sidump’r trailers.”
“At Air-Weigh we’re very excited to announce the first standard position for the new Air-Weigh Trailer Scale at a trailer manufacturer,” says Air-Weigh President Martin Ambrose. “Air-Weigh is in the data books of most truck and trailer manufacturers and was prominently displayed on 65 vehicles at the recent Mid-America Truck Show in Louisville. But this sends a clear statement that there is real value in using QuickLoad Trailer Scales.”
The innovative QuickLoad Trailer Scale features an icon-based touch-screen display showing weight on the axle group to within 300 pounds. This screen also gives access to Settings and the Alarm feature. The scale is configured with an LED alarm lamp that indicates the customer-set threshold for maximum load, allowing accurate maximized loading without the driver leaving the cab. In many loading situations where these trailers work, the driver is forbidden from leaving the cab for safety reasons.
“This reflects the value proposition of the QuickLoad Trailer Scale: an economical scale with the precision customers have come to expect from Air-Weigh combined with new premium features,” says Bob Zirlin, Air-Weigh’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Trailer OEM and Dealer. “The icon-based, touch screen interface is unique in the industry.”
Sidump’r trailers tip to either side and are extensively used where materials must be spread as the truck progresses. Other applications include those where height is limited or on uneven or soft ground that can result in the rollover of a conventional end-dump.
“Sidump’r has been around since 2000,” says Koepke, “but in July 2010, we had a change of ownership and it has been a phenomenal pairing of ownership and product experience. Since the new owners have been using the equipment for a number of years, they have a history with it and have been through the model changes. They have experienced the side-dump trailers and understand manufacturing. It’s a winning combination.”
“We’re very proud of our valued partners and the quality materials we use in building the Sidump’r trailers,” says Koepke. “It’s what sets our trailer apart. We make the trailers tough and by empowering customers to know how much they’re putting on their trailers, we are ensuring the maximum life for the equipment.”
